Is your site secure?

Yes. You pay through PayPal, the world's premier electronic payment solution, not through this site. We never even see your credit card number; PayPal just tells us that you've paid and we ship you your stuff. We get your money through PayPal later.

Do I have to have a PayPal account to buy?

No, you can pay with your credit card without a PayPal account.

What materials do you use?

The pieces I make are from jump rings (and occasional beads).  The rings are primarily made from plated silver, copper, bright aluminum, or (my current favourite) anodized aluminum in a variety of colours.  These materials differ in several respects:

Plated silver: silver over what I believe to be an iron core.  It has a nice heft to it, and the core allows the rings to be larger and thinner than many other materials.  The silver will tarnish over time; it can be restored with any of your normal tarnish removers.  More seriously, over time, the acids in your skin will gradually remove the plating completely.  If you want something that will last forever, you need something in sterling silver instead.  I can definitely make pieces in sterling silver; use the Contact Page to ask for a quote.

Copper: pure copper, and also the heaviest material I use (three times heavier than the aluminum rings).  It will darken with age, and can be restored with an ultrasonic cleaner or chemicals like Brasso.

Bright aluminum: a tempered alloy that does not rub off on the skin.  It is also hypoallergenic.  It is surprisingly light and very durable: it will not tarnish or change colour over time.  If it gets dirty, all you need clean it is soap and water.

Anodized aluminum: aluminum that has been electroplated to change the colour of the surface.  There is no aluminum rub-off, and the rings are hypoallergenic.  It is very light and durable: the colours are very vivid and will not fade over time (they can be scuffed off if you scratch them hard enough, however).  If it gets dirty, you can clean it with soap and water.
